Weekend Recap: 2025 Week 7 (Oct 2 – Oct 4) 

The 2025 high school football action continued this past weekend with some great games across Pennsylvania! Here is Mr. PA Football’s recap of some of the top games.

La Salle College Notches Immense 31-20 Victory Over St. Joseph’s Prep

The #2 La Salle College Explorers (5-1) prevailed over #5 St. Joseph’s Prep Hawks (2-4) 31-20 on Saturday night before 15,000 at Penn’s historic Franklin Field. The win avenged a 2024 playoff loss La Salle suffered at the hands of St. Joe’s last November. La Salle built a 17-0 halftime lead and led from start to finish in a win that featured an offensive eruption. The teams combined for 699 yards of total offense, 355 yards for La Salle and 344 yards for St. Joe’s Prep.

The Hawks offensive explosion happened in the second half. Hawks junior QB Charlie Foulke passed for 306 yards, completing 23 of 41 passes and three touchdown passes, with one interception. La Salle’s Missouri-bound QB Gavin Sidwar completed 20 of 35 for 325 yards and four touchdowns. The Explorers Notre Dame-bound standout Joey O’Brien caught eight passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns, and St. Joseph’s Prep sophomore sensation Jett Harrison was magnificent, catching a game-high 14 passes for 190 yards and all three of the Hawks touchdowns.

La Salle College linebacker Colton McAleer caused a forced fumble in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Big School Games:

Pennridge stays unbeaten in 14-7 victory over Neshaminy

The Rams come up with a gigantic road win at Neshaminy to stay undefeated on the season. Pennridge Head Coach Kyle Beller and his team push their record to 7-0 and expect another road win at Central Bucks West this week.

#5 Exeter Township wallops Muhlenberg 42-12

The Eagles were never really tested and led 28-6 at the half and cruised by the Muhls on the road to stay undefeated. Exeter Township was guided by senior RB/CB Leomar Brown and will prepare for another away game at Hempfield this week.

Nazareth Area wins high-scoring shootout 52-42 over Bethlehem Liberty

Nazareth Area’s victory bumped their record up to 6-1 on the season and the Blue Eagles will battle against Bethlehem Catholic on Friday night. Nazareth Area senior RB Marquez Wimberly eclipsed 300 rushing yards against Bethlehem Liberty last week.

#8 Upper St. Clair pummels South Fayette 50-14

The Panthers rout South Fayette and score 40 unanswered points to bump their record to 6-1 on the season. Upper St. Clair was led again by senior QB Ethan Hellmann and will get ready for another big game against Bethel Park on Friday night.

Trinity upends #6 Thomas Jefferson 33-22

Trinity rallies with a furious second-half comeback upset victory over Thomas Jefferson after trailing by 15 points at halftime. The Hillers will try to keep the momentum going against Chartiers Valley on Friday night.

 

Big School/Small School Crossover:

West Perry defeats Big Spring 24-17

This game was actually a Mid-Penn Colonial Division contest. West Perry was directed by senior RB Adam Yoder who scampered for 255 yards and two touchdowns. The Mustangs move to 6-1 on the season and venture on the road at Trinity this week.

 

Small School Games:

#5 Southern Columbia beats #7 Mifflinburg 21-14

The Tigers earn a hard a hard-fought road win at Mifflinburg last week. Southern Columbia legendary Head Coach Jim Roth’s victory pushed their record to 6-1 on the season. The Tigers will again travel on the road on Friday night at Montoursville.

Karns City scores huge 28-24 upset at #6 Westinghouse

Karns City stuns Westinghouse on Friday night and was led by junior QB Cole Johnston. The Gremlins and Head Coach Joe Sherwin move to 5-2 on the season and return home against Brockway this week.
