Jordan Whitehead, a standout cornerback for the Central Valley football team, is currently in the running for the title of Mr. PA Football 2014. The statewide contest, which pits well known names on the football field against each other, has fans voting for their favorite athlete in order to determine who will hold the distinction of being Mr. PA Football for the next year.
A consensus four-star prospect, Whitehead has been rated as the 13th-best cornerback in his class by 247 Sports, and the 106th best high school football player nationwide. He has also been named to the 2014 Pennsylvania Writers’ AAA All-State team. Whitehead has already committed to playing for the University of Pittsburgh this fall.
“Jordan is an exceptional student-athlete who always puts his teammates first before individual accomplishments,” said Central Valley Athletic Director Sam Cercone. “He’s a class act and an outstanding role model for his community. His skill set is everything that coaches want, but the way he conducts himself on and off the field is even better.”
Whitehead has been nominated and selected to be amongst the top five high school football athletes statewide through a unique voting process. The fans, media, and coaches each represent one-third of the vote.
Fans can cast their vote at Mr. PA Football webpage. The final voting deadline for the winner of Mr. PA Football is February 15.
All of the remaining nominees — who are listed below — have been invited to attend the banquet where the Mr. PA Football winner will be announced. Penn State head coach and keynote speaker James Franklin will present the awards. Manheim Central coach Mike Williams will also be honored with the Legendary Coach Award during the banquet.
