Damar Hamlin, a standout cornerback for the Central Catholic football team, is currently in the running for the title of Mr. PA Football 2015. The statewide contest, which pits well known names on the football field against each other, has fans voting for their favorite athlete in order to determine who will hold the distinction of being Mr. PA Football for the next year.
A consensus four-star prospect, Hamlin has been rated as the 13th-best cornerback in his class by ESPN, and the 131st best high school football player nationwide. He has also been named to the 2015 and 2014 Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class AAAA All-State team. Damar led Central Catholic to the PIAA Class AAAA title as a senior. Hamlin has already committed to playing for the University of Pittsburgh this fall.
“Damar is a tremendous student-athlete who always puts his teammates first before individual accomplishments,” said Central Catholic Athletic Director Charles Crummie. “He’s a class act and an terrific role model for his community. His skill set is everything that coaches want, but the way he conducts himself on and off the field is even better.”
