Ben DiNucci, a standout quarterback for the Pine-Richland football team, has advanced to the top five nominees for the MR. PA Football contest. The statewide contest, which pits well known names on the football field against each other, has fans voting for their favorite athlete in order to determine who will hold the distinction of being Mr. PA Football for the next year.
DiNucci has long been commanding attention for his feats on the field – this past season alone, he set a state record with more than 4,000 yards passing. He has also been named to the 2014 Pennsylvania Writers’ Class AAAA All-State team. A senior, he committed to playing for the University of Pittsburgh earlier this week.
“Ben Dinucci, the Gatorade PA Player of the Year, passed for more yards than any QB in PA Football history,” said Pine-Richland Head Coach Eric Kasperowicz. “Ben’s uncanny accuracy and leadership led the PIne-Richland Rams to the PA state finals. The 2014 Rams are the most prolific offensive football team in PA Football history.”
DiNucci has been nominated and selected to be amongst the top five high school football athletes statewide through a unique voting process. The fans, media, and coaches each represent one-third of the vote.
Fans can cast their vote at Mr. PA Football webpage. The final voting deadline for the winner of Mr. PA Football is February 15.
All of the remaining nominees — who are listed below — have been invited to attend the banquet where the Mr. PA Football winner will be announced. Penn State head coach and keynote speaker James Franklin will present the awards. Manheim Central coach Mike Williams will also be honored with the Legendary Coach Award during the banquet.
