Andrew Pryts, a standout defensive back and wide receiver for the Hickory football team, is currently in the running for the title of Mr. PA Football 2015. The statewide contest, which pits well known names on the football field against each other, has fans voting for their favorite athlete in order to determine who will hold the distinction of being Mr. PA Football for the next year.
Andrew recorded 94 tackles and four interceptions in 2015 as a defensive back. Scoring 27 touchdowns and having a Mercer County record 2,147 receiving yards during his high school career, Pryts led the Hickory team to four district titles. Named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class AA All-State team three years running once as a wide receiver and twice as a defensive back, Pryts just recently announced his intention to play for Stanford next fall.
“Andrew is an unbelievable athlete and this year lead us to our fourth straight district title,” said Hickory Head Coach Bill Brest. “He is a perfect combination — one of the hardest working player I’ve ever coached and one of the most talented.”
Pryts has been nominated and selected to be among the top five high school football athletes statewide through a unique voting process. The fans, media, and coaches each represent one-third of the vote.Fans can cast their vote at Mr. PA Football webpage. The final voting deadline for the winner of Mr. PA Football is February 8.
